This 14" EdgeHD is an aplanatic, flat field Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope that produces aberration-free images across a wide visual and photographic field of view. The optical system was designed to reduce more than just off-axis star coma; it also provides an astrograph-quality flat focal plane all the way to the edge of the field of view. The EdgeHD optics consist of a zero power corrector plate, a spherical primary mirror, and a secondary mirror along with a set of field flattening lenses which reside in the baffle tube. The optics of an EdgeHD telescope feature StarBright XLT multi-layer coatings on the primary and secondary mirrors for increased reflectivity. The corrector is also multi-layer coated to ensure enhanced anti-reflection characteristics.

TRUE ASTROGRAPH QUALITY
Many optical designs that advertise themselves as "astrographs" actually only produce pinpoint stars across a curved focal plane. While this may be acceptable for some visual observing, stars will appear out of focus at the edge when used with the flat chip sensor of a digital camera. EdgeHD optics produce a focal plane more than three-times flatter than a standard Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope and dramatically flatter than competing coma-free designs. This guarantees you visibly sharp stars across some of the largest CCD chips available today.

MECHANICAL FEATURES
In addition to EdgeHD’s optimized optical design, the telescope tube has been redesigned to make sure you get the most from your optics each and every night. Normal image orientation for the EdgeHD design is upside-down and reversed. The 2.0" diagonal inverts this image so it is right-side-up, but reversed. This diagonal directly accepts 2.0" eyepieces, and a 1.25" eyepiece adapter is included.
MIRROR CLUTCHES - Flexible tension clutches hold the mirror in place and reduce image shift when taking long exposure astro-images. Once focused, the flexible rods allow the mirror to be held in place without putting any force or pressure on the mirror assembly, keeping the image centered in the eyepiece (or on the sensor).
TUBE VENTS - Cooling vents located on the rear cell allow hot air to be released from behind the primary mirror. Each vent has an integrated 95-micron micromesh filter guaranteed to let warm air out without letting dust in.
FASTAR VERSATILITY - EdgeHD is the most versatile imaging telescope available today. At its native f/10, you can achieve the image scale necessary to capture the smallest of deep sky objects. Add the optional reducer lens—custom-designed for your size EdgeHD tube—and you can increase your field of view without sacrificing optical performance. A Barlow gives you added power for high-resolution planetary, lunar and solar imaging. All EdgeHD optical tubes are Fastar-compatible, allowing the secondary mirror to be removed and replaced with a third party lens accessory for ultra-fast f/2 wide field imaging.

INDIVIDUALLY TESTED
Every EdgeHD that ships has been tested not only for the surface quality of each optical component, but also with a camera and artificial star to ensure the imaging system meets Celestron's rigid performance quality. This “final acceptance test” confirms the EdgeHD will perform in the field and deliver high-quality astroimages.

Celestron CGX-L Equatorial Mount

Part of the next generation of equatorial mounts from Celestron, the CGX-L features a robust load capacity of 75 pounds with an excellent load to weight ratio.  Designed with imaging in mind, you will find additional auxiliary ports and an autoguiding port on the dec for improved cable management.   Worm gears have been upgraded to a larger (compared to previous models) 144mm gear for excellent tracking and slewing with heavy loads and smart design improvements like a longer saddle plate and 2.75" provide a highly stable and secure platform for your large aperture telescope.  

With a shorter, more compact mount head and built in handles, the CGX-L is surprisingly easy to carry and assemble.  As part of it's ergonomic design, the adjustment knobs are designed for reduced friction and a stationary latitude knob with a newly-designed linkage system greatly reduces the amount of friction when polar aligning the mount. Teflon bearings on the azimuth adjustment allow you to adjust even with a full load on the mount and an the latitude scale is large, clear and easy to read.

• The CGX-L has built-in physical hard stops and optical hard stops eliminating the chance that the counterweight shaft will strike the leg.   
• Designed for easy remote control, home sensors allow you to start in the index position no matter what position the mount was in when it was powered off. 
• Includes a USB 2.0 Nexstar+ hand controller equipped with Celestron's PWI telescope control software designed in partnership with PlaneWave Instruments, featuring multi-point mount modeling for precision pointing accuracy. 
• Includes Celestron's All Star Polar Alignment for incredibly accurate guided polar alignment allowing you to align with any bright fixed object in the night sky.  There's no need for additional polar finders or accessories.
